Benson may have been targeted by Texas cops
May 7, 2008
Reports are conflicting, but there is strong evidence that Cedric Benson may have been the target of overzealous Texas police. Eyewitnesses report problems every time Benson used his 30-foot boat. Police frequently stopped him for inspections. This latest time, the inspection resulted in a passing grade for Benson, yet the officers felt it necessary to give him a field sobriety test. There is no evidence that the boat was pulled over for anything other than a safety inspection. It is not even clear whether or not Benson was even driving the boat at the time it was pulled over. More on this story here…

Mr. Benson’s good ole friend’s daddy stepping up for his daughter’s “black friend”:
“I called my dad and told him, ‘Call 911, my black friend is getting beaten up by police on Lake Travis,’” Cartwright recalled, according to the Tribune. “It’s more what I heard than what I saw. I have never heard or seen Cedric that scared.”–Espn.com
Cartwright’s father, Jeff, called 911 at his daughter’s insistence. Unaware she was calling about Benson, he told the dispatcher that police “were beating up a black kid on Lake Travis.”–Espn.com
